ABOUT OREGON STAGE WORKS

“It made me think and it
made me feel - it is great theatre.”
~ Patrons of Oregon
Stage Works
From it’s days as an
itinerant theater company producing acclaimed productions at various
venues ranging from hotels and restaurants to the OSF Black Swan and
with financial support from many individuals and major foundations
along with the construction
of
an intimate theatre just three blocks from OSF in Ashland’s Railroad
District, (191 A Street, Ashland) the evolution of Oregon Stage
Works has been unique.
Led by Producing Artistic
Director Peter Alzado, Kate Sullivan and Board Chairman William
Sauers, Oregon Stage Works has established itself as provocative,
exciting, and exquisitely entertaining, reminiscent of New York
City’s finest Off-Broadway theatres. Focusing on developing and
master
American playwrights this award winning, artist driven company
produces a diverse palette of plays, special events and readings
throughout the year. Programs of particular note are Oregon Stage
Works Ashland Children’s Theatre with on going classes and
performances for youth, The Craft of The Actor an acting workshop
for adults, and the Playwrights Unit for the development of new
American plays.
Speaking for the company
Alzado indicates that each of us at Oregon Stage Works, from board
member, to staff, to creative personnel, to audience member, is here
to relish the power of words in live performance. From the depths of
our sorrow to the heights of our joy, we are in honor and in
celebration of the extraordinary gift of life. In that commemoration
we happily, confidently, rely on you, a discerning audience willing
to be intrigued, challenged, provoked and educated as well as
entertained. In the exploration of our feelings, ideas, our beliefs,
we may recognize in each of us our essential commonality. It seems
to me that if the theatre can lead us to this certain insight, there
is the possibility of understanding that which we have come to
believe separates us from each other, and in that understanding
there is the possibility of change. Join us in the profound,
provocative and exquisitely entertaining adventure that is live
performance at Oregon Stage Works!
